The chorionic plate (also called the fetal surface) is a thick layer of chorionic where the stem villi originate. Here the chorionic plate is also seem to be inflamed.

Pre eclampsia

Predominance of stem villi; majority of tertiary villi have syncytial knots

Congested stem villi

Fibrinous exudates
